MORE ON KLOOF:
Kloof is a leafy, up market village 25km (16ml) west of Durban at the top of Field’s Hill. The hill is a key section of the world-famous 90km (56ml) Comrades Marathon run annually between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, the KwaZulu-Natal provincial capital. "Kloof" is the Afrikaans word for "gorge", and Kloof Gorge forms part of the beautiful Krantzkloof Nature Reserve with its rich birdlife including crowned eagles. The attractive Everton Conservancy is also part of the Kloof area, and to crown these ecological attractions – the spectacular Valley of 1000 Hills Tourism Experience starts in Kloof. Kloof is therefore a magnet for eco-tourists, but is also a welcome retreat for business executives visiting the nearby industrial areas of Pinetown and Hammarsdale.
